Your line that sequence matters is the part I needed. My habit has been the opposite. I send an idea, read part of the answer, and send the next prompt before I've finished reading. https://jaiisyourman.substack.com/p/the-giants-never-wrote-back On a little introspection, the common factor seems to be me. Sometimes I write the thought on paper first, so there's an earlier version to compare against. But you want resistance from AI. If I'm not reading the whole reply, would its pushback even land? Maybe the friction has to come from my side first?

“After the interaction, is the human more capable, less capable, or simply more productive?” That’s the measure that drives my work on how people and AI collaborate, and I’d love to see it become a standard.

What I keep coming back to is that capability-building has to be designed on purpose. I love your “form a view first” habit. I couldn’t agree more that it keeps us present in our own thinking. I keep thinking about your question on junior work too: if the struggle goes away, the practice has to come from somewhere else.

Have you seen teams do that well?
